There’s a particular kind of magic in a Wednesday at the park — the warmth of the sun, the easy hum of conversation, a little live music drifting across the grass. This June, we’d love for you to come find it with us.
We’re so excited to introduce Sun, Sandwiches, and Song — a free outdoor lunch gathering at Coronation Park, every Wednesday through June. It’s a chance to slow down in the middle of the week, enjoy good food and good music, and spend a little time with your neighbours. No cost, no catch, no pressure. Just an open invitation to come as you are.
A familiar idea, taken outdoors
If the heart of this feels familiar, that’s because it is. For a while now, our Warm Lunch Wednesdays have been a quiet weekly gift — a warm meal, a friendly face, and a reason to gather. It became one of those small, steady things that people came to count on.
Now that the sun is out, we’re taking that same spirit outside. Same warmth, same welcome — just with a bit more sunshine, a lot more space, and the lovely backdrop of Coronation Park.
What a Wednesday looks like
Here’s how the time unfolds:
From 11:30am to noon, the talented folks at Studio Forte — a wonderful local music studio right here in Grimsby — fill the park with live music. It’s the perfect soundtrack to ease into the afternoon.
Then we settle in together for a free lunch and good conversation until 1:00pm. Sandwiches, sunshine, and the simple pleasure of sharing a table with people you might not have met yet.
That’s it. Come for the music, stay for the sandwiches, linger for the company. Bring a lawn chair, bring your appetite, and bring a friend or two if you’d like.
A seat with your name on it
What makes these Wednesdays special isn’t really the food or even the music — lovely as both are. It’s the people. It’s the way a park bench becomes a place to belong, and a shared lunch becomes a small reminder that nobody has to do life alone.
Whether you’ve joined us before or you’re brand new to the whole thing, you are genuinely welcome here. There’s no membership to sign, nothing you need to know ahead of time, and nowhere you need to rush off to. Just come, sit a while, and let it be easy.
We think of these afternoons as a bit of a gift — to our neighbours, and honestly to ourselves too. There’s something good that happens when a community makes time to simply be together.
